Why both, and not just one.

Software for the office and an app for the driver are two products almost everywhere. Here they are two ends of one compliance record, and that changes three things.

The document exists once

A driver photographs their medical certificate in the cab, and that is the same file your office opens. Not a copy, not an attachment someone forwarded: the same one.

Nobody sends anything twice, so nothing arrives twice either.

Every item knows its rule and its owner

This is not a folder of scans. Each section of the file carries the regulation it answers to and who owes it — the driver, your company, or a third party such as a previous employer.

So «what is missing» is a list you can hand out, not an investigation.

It shows up where compliance happens

Compliance is not a screen you look at every day. It is the shoulder of a highway and a conference room — and the same record serves both, on a phone at one and in a browser at the other.

FAQs

Is this an ELD?

No. NextWallet is not a certified ELD. Once you link a driver, they can keep the previous 7 days of duty status in the app and show it when someone asks for it, which is what §395.8 requires them to have on hand.

Is this a government app?

No. Next Suite is published by NextDrive LLC, a private company. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or acting on behalf of the FMCSA, the U.S. Department of Transportation, the FAA, the TSA, or U.S. Customs and Border Protection, and it does not issue, validate, verify or approve any government credential.

What happens to a driver’s documents if they leave us?

The file belongs to the driver and goes with them. Your access ends when the employment link ends, not before: §391.51 requires you to keep the Driver Qualification File for as long as the rule says, so the end of the link is an offboarding, not a button.

Can my mechanics use it?

Yes. You create the mechanic account inside NextWallet: it is a work account, so the mechanic does not buy anything and cannot delete it — your company deactivates it. With it they run work orders, parts requests, before-and-after photos, and annual and 90-day inspections.
